Drakes Bay\u00a0is a 4-mile (6.4\u00a0km) wide\u00a0bay\u00a0named so by U.S. surveyor\u00a0George Davidson\u00a0in 1875 along the Point Reyes National Seashore\u00a0on the coast of northern\u00a0California\u00a0in the\u00a0United States, approximately 30 miles (48\u00a0km) northwest of\u00a0San Francisco\u00a0at approximately\u00a038 degrees north latitude.<\/p>\n

The bay is approximately 8 miles (13\u00a0km) wide. It is formed on the lee side of the coastal current by\u00a0Point Reyes. The bay is named after\u00a0Sir Francis Drake\u00a0and has long been considered Drake\u2019s most likely landing spot on the west coast of\u00a0North America\u00a0during his\u00a0circumnavigation\u00a0of the world by sea in 1579.<\/p>\n

It is also a very short drive to NorCal\u2019s world-famous wine country!<\/p>\n
