What Is The Best Uke For Me?<\/strong>
\nYou can learn on ANY size ukulele as all 3 of the popular sizes are tuned exactly the same.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a brief look at what makes each size unique, and why you might choose one over the other. Many aficionados own multiple ukes in a variety of sizes. Begin with the one that speaks to you, and start the journey!<\/p>\n

Notes: Typically the smaller sized ukes cost less (assuming same brand and model family.) Adding features like electronics and ornate details also increases prices. Buying a uke in a \u201cbundle\u201d package is a great idea as it gets you everything you need to get started. Happy shopping!<\/p>\n

SOPRANO (Small):<\/strong>
\nWhere it all started, the Soprano size ukulele. Often called \u201cthe standard\u201d in Hawaii, it is \u00a0the original size. This uke features the sweet sound of the islands, and is what you typically hear on familiar ukulele recordings from the early 1900\u2019s. It is also the easiest to travel with.<\/p>\n

CONCERT (Medium):<\/strong>
\nThe concert size was developed in the 1920s as an enhanced soprano, slightly larger and louder with a deeper tone. If you need a little more room for your fingers, this is a great choice.<\/p>\n

TENOR (Large):<\/strong>
\nThe tenor\u2019s additional scale length and body size give it more volume and a slightly deeper bass tone. Folks who already play guitar, and are venturing into ukulele seem to gravitate towards the tenor sound. This size sounds great for traditional uke music, and also folk , country, and Americana.<\/p>\n
